Position: Precast Steel Fixer

Salary: Competitive Pay DOE. Hourly rate with a discretionary bonus linked to individual and company performance.

Hours/Location: Avg. 45 hours/week. Factory based CO6 2NS.

Milbank Concrete Products, a leader in the precast concrete industry, is seeking a Precast Steel Fixer to join its production team. This hands-on role is integral to its manufacturing process, ensuring reinforcement steel is accurately prepared for casting.

The Role

Based at our Earls Colne factory in Essex, our Precast Steel Fixers play an essential role in producing high-quality precast concrete products. Working from detailed CAD drawings and bending schedules, you will cut, bend, tie, and weld reinforcement steel to create precision-built cages used across our product range.

You’ll work closely with colleagues across the production team, maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and productivity. The role involves checking all work before casting, carrying out shopfloor equipment checks, monitoring material stock levels, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives, including 5S and sustainability projects.

Success in this role requires strong practical skills, a solid understanding of manufacturing or construction environments, good communication, and a proactive, team-focused approach. Experience in steel fabrication or precast manufacturing is highly beneficial.

Key Responsibilities:

Cut, bend, tie, and weld reinforcement steel to required specifications.
Assemble steel cages by tying or welding pre-formed steelwork.
Follow detailed CAD drawings and bending schedules to ensure accuracy.
Demonstrate a proactive approach to health and safety.
Comply with all Milbank Concrete Products (MCP) policies.
Double-check all work before casting to prevent errors.
Complete equipment husbandry checks on the shopfloor.
Monitor stock levels and coordinate with team leaders to ensure timely orders.
Actively participate in 5S (6S) and other projects aimed at continuous improvement and sustainability.
Maintain a clean and organized workspace (“clean as you go” culture).
Contribute to layout improvements to enhance efficiency.
