Team Milbank take the gold!
Leading law firm Birketts recently organised a charity tennis tournament and in the process raised much-needed funds for a local charity.
The inaugural charity tennis tournament took place on 6 July at the Ipswich Sports Club and teams battled it out to become the first to raise the winners shield. Organised during the first week of Wimbledon, the eight teams took inspiration and fought hard during the closely-contested games. In the final, Sean Milbank and Matthew Sparrow from Milbank Concrete were victorious, with Boyd and Jane Mulvey from Chorus Intelligence claiming the runners-up spot.
Mark Henry, a Partner in Birketts’ Corporate Team, commented: “Thankfully the weather was kind and the sun shone all day. We plan to make the tournament an annual event and look forward to building on our very enjoyable and competitive first event.”
Mark continued: “Riding for the Disabled teaches riding and carriage driving to disabled children and adults, regardless of their disability. The Woodbridge and District branch are currently in the throes of moving premises from Hollesley to Clopton, and we wanted to give them a helping hand. Birketts sponsored the event by underwriting the overheads therefore allowing all the money raised to go directly to the charity. Approximately £750 has been raised and we know it will find a good home with the charity.”
